I guess I should mention that I'm a bit spoiled here in Japan, the
shops have a good supply of lenses, and keep several in store for
selling. They have a complete demo lineup in a glass cabinet, you buy
a lens you get a sealed Canon box with a brand new lens in it.

I would not be concerned even about buying a used lens at the dealers
though, cause they back up everything without question. Their used
lenses are all mint, and priced accordingly. If you take it back, it's
no problem, they'll make you happy. Probably cause it's so easy for
them to send anything back, get fixed, or get a factory replacement.

If anyone's wondering about prices in Japan, forget it. New lenses
here go for more than in the States. Selection and service though are
topnotch.

For example, the EOS 7 here cost about $700 US with no lens. Enough
said.
