Now that we are all speculating on the future of digital photography, I
posed myself this question. If there is a clear advantage of large format
cameras over 35mm SLRs, due to the tilt and shift capabilities, I don't see
any clear advantages of medium format cameras vs 35mm. We all agree that
resolution will continue to increase in the near future. Once 35mm DSLRs
reach medium format quality, is there any point in having an expensive
medium format equipment? Medium format manufacturers will have to fit
sensors with even greater resolution to have a sales argument. Am I missing
something here?
