Since they seem to have the optics, I don't know why one would be sharper
than the other, and I've never heard that before. But for me, the metal
mount, the distance scale, and most of all the lens hood without the adapter
ring make the original version worth a few dollars more than the newer one.

Either way, they're darn cheap. The new one can be had from B&H for under
$65. Wow!
