Hi Howard,

I doubt you will see any effect from this minor flaw even if you cannot get
it off the front element of your new lens.  If you are lucky it may just be
dirty!  I've purchased several used, mint condition lenses that looked like
there were flaws in the lens coating (for much lower negotiated prices!),
and managed to have a like new lens with a little bit of cleaning with a
"Lens Pen" lens cleaning tool.  I don't know what's on the little pad that
you use to clean the lens with but it seems to take off ANYTHING on the lens
coating without leaving any evidence that it was there!  Try one you may be
surprised at the results, you could end up with a perfect front lens element
for a $10 investment.
