But that, unfortunately is the problem. I did get a Tamron 28-105 f2.8
in an EF mount a few years back, 82mm filters and all. It cost something
like $800.
The problem is, it's not a good lens. I never use it. I wouldn't mind
the huge size and weight and slow grinding focusing. That would be
fine...if it was even a little good optically. But it isn't good
optically, it's more like a Canon low-end consumer zoom than a Canon
28-70L, maybe even worse. No contrast anywhere, and no sharpness except
at middle apertures at middle focal length.
There's nothing wrong with wanting an L lens with those features from
Canon that's actually good.
