I'm glad somebody reminded that this lens exists. I have a friend who wants to buy an EOS camera (probably the EOS 30). He wants a single lens only, as he wants to travel light. He primarily shoots portraits and landscape. He owned a 28-80/4.5-5.6 and found it was too slow for he's needs. He finds the 28-70/2.8L too short on the long end and doesn't want to pay the price of L glass. He was considering a Sigma 28-105/2.8-4. Then I read this post mentioning the Tamron 28-105mm f2.8. Is this lens any good, considering my friend's needs (landscape/portrait)? How about focusing? How slow and noisy is it? Thanks for any comments.
