I still have a IIe, so add in some bias, but I much prefer the near-infrared
AF assist light to that of the newer bodies, like the 7e, D30, IX, D60 (I
also have the latter two). Unless you use ECF a lot AND you want the extra
focusing point, stick with your IIe.

As for digital, have you thought about the typical size of your output? Is
it print, web, etc? Maybe the D30 would be a good value for you?
