For a really nice one (like new) with both Canon caps and hood, I would look at $600-$650. A 72mm filter and the box would push it to $650-$700. I personally would not go over $700 even for one that got "lost" new on a dealer's shelf. $800 is steep now although it wasn't a bad price before the 16-35 came out.
