OK
This is what I had written
Not that is so important or anything
Thanks everyone for the help
I don't remember this happening before!

Howdy
I love Russian cameras and lenses. The women aint bad
either. I have a Revueflex based on a Zenit 3m with a
Helios 44, Helios 40 a huge Jupiter 6 all in ZM39 and
a Jupiter 12 in LTM39 as well as a beautiful black
Helios 40 mk2 in M42.

The ZM39 lenses can be used with an m42 adapter and
along with the M42 lenses can be fitted with an EOS
adapter. Though quality was not uniform, you can hunt
around for a good one and the results will amaze you!

Currently there is a russiancamera group on
yahoogroups
and another more active group hosted by the amazing
Bob Shell on www.beststuff.com. There are also more
specific Kiev, Zenit and Zorki groups elsewhere.
Whatever the case Yeah, I love Russian cameras!
See Ya

AND

Actually, the bulk of Soviet lens designs were
splashes of German lenses to the point that on some
the elements and mechanical parts are
indistinguishable.
Clearly there were and are some very talented optical
designers in Russia but the Germans always had the
edge giving it up only to the Japanese and then only
occasionally and on a lens by lens basis.

As for exotic optics made for military or space use,
and decent optical firm can produce a superb lens. The
trick is to churn out 500 or 5000 while maintaining a
standard close to the custom job. Like I said if you
get lucky you could wind up with a very sharp and
desirable Russian lens but if luck isn't on your side
it could be a real dog that you want to use.
Lastly
Zeiss Steinheil,Schneider, Leitz (Elcan), canon, meyer
and many others have also produced exotic lenses as
good or better than the best from KMZ.
Sorry
