> official transmission range for the 550EX and 3-5 metres (10-15 feet)
> for the ST-E2."

For the ST-E2:

Transmission Range: Indoors: Approx. 12-15 meters/39.4 - 49.2 ft; Outdoors:
Approx. 8-10/ 26.2-32.8 ft

Transmission Coverage: 40 horizontal and 30 vertical

For the 550EX:
Transmission angle: Horizontal: Approx. 80 / Vertical: Approx. 60 (At M 24
mm zoom setting) (Manual zooming of flash head also enabled)

Transmission range: Indoors: Approx. 12 to 15 meters / 39.3 to 49.2 feet
Outdoors: Approx. 8 to 10 meters / 26.2 to 32.8 feet

This is from official Canon specs. The transmission distance is identical
for both units, although the angle is not.
