For the ST-E2: Transmission Range: Indoors: Approx. 12-15 meters/39.4 - 49.2 ft; Outdoors: Approx. 8-10/ 26.2-32.8 ft Transmission Coverage: �40� horizontal and �30� vertical For the 550EX: Transmission angle: Horizontal: Approx. 80� / Vertical: Approx. 60� (At M 24 mm zoom setting) (Manual zooming of flash head also enabled) Transmission range: Indoors: Approx. 12 to 15 meters / 39.3 to 49.2 feet Outdoors: Approx. 8 to 10 meters / 26.2 to 32.8 feet This is from official Canon specs. The transmission distance is identical for both units, although the angle is not.
