I`m in a good position for commenting about this thread as I'm the owner of
"both" equipments: a Canon EOS 1V and a Nikon F5. Call the EOS 1V camera an
amateur one is nothing but ignorance or maybe a bad intention. Those of you
who own one know perfectly that is a sturdy camera ready for lasting (
rewind fork issue included). The Nikon F5 is another excelent camera whose
main difference is the detachable prism finder that makes him the right
choice for some scientific purposes. So if you choose one for sure you hit.
Matter about lenses is another quite different issue.

I know, too, many people of the "mine is the best" philosophy and they match
the theory: I own, I'm the best. Nothing to do with this. The best tool
makes not the best photographer and even a good training does not ensure
good output. Here in Spain we have a phrase "What nature gives not Salamanca
(a famous university) lend not. So Canon owners you have the right tool
amateur or pro...I hope this in my "Forrest Gump" english was understable.

Kind regards

Felix
