I've been trying to figure out what tele lens to buy for a long time now. I need to upgrade the old 75-300 finally. The 300/f4 IS lens seems like a fine lens, but it's not quite long enough, and it certainly can't zoom :-)
The super fast teles are all way to heavy, large, and expensive. IS seems to be a perfect solution to me, since I hate tripods and do alot of walking and cycling with the camera. Well, I've pretty well decided on the EF 100-400 USM IS lens. I like the range, and it's not too big or heavy. And the price is pretty good too. I want to easily carry it, and be able to use it hand held at least sometimes. So, anything I should consider about this lens, anything to look for in a used one? What kind of noises should it make, how's the feel of the rings supposed to be? How should the IS look in the finder? I've never checked an IS lens out. Thanks guys, this list has been interesting lately. I just thought before I grab one I'd ask you guys about it. * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
