Another interesting consideration....it's indeed surprising that no
low-end lenses have popped up yet....
(only a flood of extreme wide-angle (zoom)lenses covering the full
24x36mm)

I'm just wondering if Canon is perhaps going to announce new
smaller lens to bypass the 1.6 factor. They keep waiting and the
independents will start looking to fill that market. We may very well
see a new standard emerge, since we have so many 1.5-1.7 cameras.
