I find the "rule" very current and timely. I frequently retrieve these messages using my cell phone and pda. My cell phone transfer speed is slow and my pda's memory is limited. By default I only retrieve the first 60 lines of a message. Having the latest response to a thread at the top I almost never need to get the entire message.
