Yes

All the excuses for replying at the top are as lame as a duck with a
gammy leg.

Thanks to WJ *everyone* must go to the bottom to trim off the admin
footer anyway.
(well, maybe not those with palm pilots that don't download it all
anyway)

Therefore those who persist in replying at the top are having to take
one extra step ...



At work we reply first and NEVER snip anything because
1) the messages want to keep everything in one place
2) it's an intranet and BLOAT is not a problem
3) that is the convention in that place.


WJ's most telling observation is that the "reply first" brigade almost
never snip anything.  The "I agree" statements preceeding sometimes
hundreds of unrelated statements.  It really is as if quoting first
conditions the mind to think "do they really need to read all this
crap again before getting to my reply?"
