Chip,

it appears that the xs-drive is equipped
with USB 1.1 only, that why I wanted to
know which models do have USB 2.0.

I know firewire is pretty fast too. But
my latest experiences with firewire and
Windows have not been pleasant.

I used a firewire cardreader until a
while ago, with good success and decent
speed, until my Windows crashed and it
wouldn't work anymore since. (I have
tried many things short of reinstalling
the Windows, I even returned the device
for an exchange - the new device worked
for a couple days after hardware detection
(new ID?), then another Windows crash,
and it again doesn't work anymore ...)

Hi Lars,

I was writing about the Nixvue DA and DA II, both are USB 2.0 interfaces
with Firewire as an option. As far as XS-Drive goes, the current version
comes standard with USB 2.0.

If you were using Firewire on a Windows system and your Windows crashed it
sounds like you may be using an older version of Windows or an upgrade
version. Windows 2000 and XP are both stable O/S versions and work very
well UNLESS you upgraded to one of these from a previous version of Windows,
then all bets are off. I have used Firewire on many systems with factory
installed Win2K and XP or full versions of Win2K or XP with no problems at
all. I'm a UNIX systems consultant and have interfaced UNIX application and
database servers to WinDoz client desktops hundreds of times and many of my
installs are using Firewire for external drive and peripheral access on the
client side with no problems. It sounds like you may need to do a fresh
install of WinDoz or get an updated version of WinDoz and do a fresh install
if you are having these problems.

Cheers/Chip
