Hi Mr. Bill, Well that really depends on how much film you shoot a year. If I only shoot 100 rolls of print film a year for all my family stuff (about what I do now), and continued to have A&I do all of my processing and printing and paid less than $2.00 per 36 exp. roll of film. My savings will still come in at a minimum of about $1,500 per year once I consider the cost of prints my wife would normally use for her very large and detailed scrapbooks. This doesn't even count all the tranny film, E6 lab fees and prints I have made every year from trannies which can come close to the amount sent on print film and processing! For me, I went digital by selling off almost all of my EOS system and do-dads including most of my cherished "L" glass, sigh. Then I took the funds from the proceeds to purchase at very fair prices a used complete EOS D60 w/BG-ED grip and a spare battery, a used complete EOS 1D, a spare battery, four (4), Transcend 512MB CF cards, a new copy of Photoshop 7.01, all of FM's PS actions for the 1D, a copy of YARC+, a copy of Breeze Browser, a Lexar Firewire CF card reader and a portable 6 in 1 USB 2.0 media reader, a new EF 16-35 2.8L lens, a new EF 70-200 2.8L IS lens (yeah!). After I tally it all up there will be a significant cost savings realized in the second year of me being a digital shooter. It should be enough to allow me to buy a new high-res EOS digital body in 2 years or a nice used EOS 1Ds in a year or so. Being a computer geek I already had several high-end (2-3GHz. CPU's, 1-3GB RAM, a couple hundred GB of disc on a server), computers. None of them needed anything added to them to handle photo editing chores as I already had a Polaroid SS4000 film scanner. A 4000ppi film scanner sucks up a lot of RAM and disc space so a 6MP camera is no big deal. But you're right I did tell my wife that it was the cost savings that I liked. 8^) Cheers/Chip * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
