Yes, that's true.  But there are a very few printers
sold with full pigmented inksets, and aftermarket
pigment inks available from 3rd party vendors.  Right
now, the hot ticket in "inexpensive" pigment ink
printers seems to be the  Epson 2200.  I have one, and
while it's not perfect, it's a lot better than the
previous Epson 2000.  Image quality is close to the
Epson dye based printers, and longevity is much, much better.
