Hi JD,

I'm my biggest reader! LOL!

Seriously JD, I've always thought that Sigma was the third party lens maker
to watch, I've always said so. I know, someday Sigma will get it all
together and find the balls to produce top level lenses across the line not
just one or two good ones and a bunch of odd ball middle of the road lenses.
Not just good optics, complete, rugged reliable lenses that offer long term
solutions for shooters that shoot with their gear. Lenses that don't fall
apart after light use, paint that does not rub off easily and lenses that
work in the same fashion as the OEM lenses do in terms of direction of zoom
and focusing, switches located in similar locations and operate with the
same orientation. People buying third party lenses should not have the
nasty surprise of needing to send in their lenses to get re-chipped when
Canon comes out with a new body and they happen to buy one. Minor things
like this are what sets them behind the leaders. Details. Details, sigh
someday...

Some of the above details are what have kept me from buying a Sigma 14mm
2.8EX. But as time goes on I'm working on overcoming my high standards of
lens quality so I can accept the compromises that owning a Sigma may bring.
8^)

Cheers/Chip
