You can make the "*" button (on the back) the DOF button (or the AF button, or leave it as it's default - the exposure lock button) using one of the Custom Functions, instead of using the Eye Control Focus means you mentioned. More information is available here: http://www.eosdoc.com/manuals.asp?q=ElanII See under Custom Functions: [CF]4) Use of * button 0 = AF start with shutter button, exposure lock with "*" button 1 = AF start with "*" button, exposure lock with shutter button 2 = same as 0, plus DOF check with "*" button (I personally like CF4 set to 2, but that's me :-) ) > If your lens is wide open nothing happens. Absolutely! Make sure your camera isn't showing f1.8 as the aperture it's using with this lens, whatever the Mode you're in. Better yet, use a mode to set it to something significant, like f8 or so to test it for more obvious results (though it sounds like you're aware of this already, Bibis) Cheers Marc Sydney, Oz * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
