I had B&H send me a couple of new zoom lenses (you're right the 70-200 2.8LIS is fantastic!), and a spare NiMH battery for the EOS 1D a couple of weeks ago, same two box shipping. I think this is due to B&H filling orders from more than 1 warehouse. This is a common practice in the computer and electronics industry. It makes much more sense to send the items where they are found and picked and ship them directly but separately than to send them to a central shipping point and then out a customer location. One has to wonder if the common shipping industry practice of have hub cities (single point distribution centers), is as efficient as they think them to be. I think that if they would look at the IP model of switching that they could realize a significant savings in terms of package miles and energy costs. Opps, forgot where I was. I noticed this about B&H when the link that HP sent me to track my new goodies showed that there were more than one package and that they originated from different points.
Correct. we now have a Brooklyn warehouse/shipping center in addition to the one in Manhattan under the store. Rent in Manhattan is REALLY expensive.
