Not to complain as I think B&H is a good thing, but this can be a little
inconvenient for international orders. I only ordered a CF card with my

about $50 extra cost to me which I hadn't anticipated.

You are mistaken. Our s&h fees, domestic & international, depend on the order's weight, value, destination and shipping method. If we elect to maintain multiple shipping locations we do not penalize the consumer. Your recent order, in toto, weighed 4 lbs and had a value of (you know the number and it's no one else's business). The TOTAL shipping/handling fee for your order was 51.00. By your math you paid <about $50 extra> which would mean that without the second shipping location we'd have charged you a s&h fee to the other side of the globe of $1.00. No way. :-)

Henry, I don't think that Tim is wrong. Not to put words in his mouth, but I believe he is talking about the full amount of charges he has to pay, not what B&H receives. There are basic unit handling charges that are added to every international shipment at the receiving end that must be paid.

I recently bought a couple of items from B&H, which consisted of a lens and a CF card, and I also received two packages. B&H didn't charge me extra for using two packages, but each package was assessed a minimum handling fee by FEDEX for bringing it across the border; in this case, to Canada. This handling charge or brockerage fee was an extra purely due to there being two parcels instead of one. There is no duty on these items, but our government wants its cut of everything, so we have to pay federal and provincial tax, and FEDEX has to fill out paperwork and collect this, and they charge for that.

I imagine the situation is similar when shipping to Australia.
