Hi Henrik,

A DSLR is a bad party camera.  They are big, expensive and easily damaged.
A good digital party camera would be more like a camera the size of a Canon
ELF with about 3-4MP sensor with a moderate speed say F/2.8 lens, come with
a CF card with the capacity to hold at least 100 images at one step below a
maximum quality jpg file.  It would also be VERY nice to have excellent
noise characteristics and be capable of at least ISO1600 without too much
noise.  After all, a party is a party, they should be engaging, entertaining
and always contain art.
