All very good advice. Let me add one more thing: Pay close attention to the type of items and auctions the sellers prior feedback is for.
I agree, I almost bought a lens from one vendor with 800+ feedback until I looked at his feedback page. First, it seemed normal, a wide variety of people giving feedback with different messages. But when I actually clicked on an item, it turned out they were ALL sales of empty rifle cartridges. All using the same picture.
My guess is that the sales/feedback are robot generated with a ring network. Scary.
