I'm using a plastic film similar in material
to the "next oil change due" stickers or
holiday window stickers. It adheres to glass
rather than sticks, making it fairly easy to
remove.

It is clear (no fuzziness or opaqueness),
but it is sightly grey in appearance. It
can be stacked in four or five layers to
reduce brightness during night or low-light
photography.

A buddy (Ron, can you hear me?) gave me a
squarefoot of that stuff once, for use as
creative filters (cutting out a vignette,
or using small triangles to soften the
image).

I used the film for a year on my D30, and
while the plastic got scratched up a bit,
it never bothered me enough to replace it.

I removed the protective plastic when I
sold the camera, and the LCD screen glass
looked immaculate.

Great stuff, I say.
