How do you find working between the two different user interfaces ? Are there enough similarities to avoid going to the wrong button/switch while shooting? And how noticable is the difference in AF speed when shooting back to back ? I'm considering getting the 10D as a back up to the 1Ds so have an immediate interest in these issues. *********************************************************** Hello Tim: I find working between the 2 different interfaces difficult. I primarily shoot with my 1D, and thus get occasionally confused a bit when I shoot with the 10D. I needed a backup to my 1D, and could not afford a second a 1D. The 10D is a perfectly fine camera, and in the 'sweet spot' of the 10D's capabilities, I believe the 10D produces images every bit as good as the 1D. But the interface is very different, and I advise colleagues to buy a 1D as a backup to their 1D or 1Ds if it's an affordable option. It's not so much that you hit wrong buttons, it's the little bit of stumbling trying to remember where stuff is on a body that you don't use as much. If you're in excellent lighting situations, you're shooting with L glass, and you're not needing 1D-only capabilities, then the 10D's AF performance is fine. But the difference in AF capability definitely gets to be noticeable as you move to less light and fast action. 1D's speed, its 'snap,' is breathtaking - and you'll notice it. But that's why you pay $1500 more for the 1D these days. If you're using a 1Ds, in summary, my advice is to buy a 1D as your backup, if that's within your budget. Especially if you occasionally need some 1D-only features, such as ability to flash sync at 1/500th with ETTL. Hope this helps.
