Good morning to all,

I'm in same position, meaning that I am looking for a digital body. I've
been shooting a whole lot lately, and with the price of film and processing,
I would have saved twice the price of the camera, had I purchased a 10D when
it came out. But... One of the most important things for me is autofocus
performance. I've been using my EOS-3 since it came out in 1998. The
autofocus system is simply excellent, and I cannot, for one second, consider
replacing it with a lesser body like the 10D. I'm not saying the 10D is not
a good camera, it is. However, when it comes to focusing performance, it's
really not there (I like shooting birds in flight). And another problem is
that 1.6x factor on the focal length. It would be great for shooting birds,
then again, I can't really use it for birds, so I'll end up using it for
landscapes and portraits. But in a small studio, the 1.6x factor is a major
pain!

I have two options: either getting the 1D that is waaaaaaaaaaay out of my
league, or waiting for an EOS-3 equivalent in digital, reasonably priced.
The true question is, am I hoping for too much? Should I keep my EOS-3 and
use it a bit longuer, and yet get the 10D for pictures that do not require
that AF performance?
