Hi all,

To blend two light/dark images into one, I use something I read
about on Fred Miranda's site (at least I think it was there)

open both images (#1 and #2), Select All on #1 , Paste into a
new layer on #2.

Then select the upper layer, and hit the "Create Layer Mask"
at the bottom of the Layer box. Select the Layer Mask, and
choose the Gradient tool.

Draw a gradient across the image, down to where you want the
division to be.

Voila : The upper layer fades to transparent down to the
division. You can even repeat the task, (copy/paste into
layer #3) to put more density into other areas. I've also
used a round mask, to tone down for example an overexposed
foreground face (flashed out)
