Film is no different in this respect, although the method of achieving it is. In practice this is not always possible and IME sometimes not desirable. I regard the CT presets the same as all the other controls. I only use AWB, CWB and KB. I don't use any others in the same way as I don't use green square mode or have the beeper on. But I appreciate that others work differently. I guess the manufacturers do too and thus there are other options. By the sound of it, you are not experiencing any major problems. QED.
