The 10d allows you to turn the LCD to 5 stages of brightness. Surely
yours is the same. Check in the options list of the menu.

And don't go too much by the LCD. Use it mostly for histogram and
highlight warning. You should be able to tell by your histogram if you
have captured a good exposure range of brightness.
