I had that lens. It was an upgraded version of the legendary Vivitar Series 1 90mm F2.5 lens.

I'm something of a macro lens nut. I have the Series 1 90mm f/2.5, the Tamron (MF) SP 90mm f/2.5, the Tamron AF SP 90mm f/2.8, and the Series 1 90-180mm f/4.5. I keep getting told I should get the Kiron 105/2.8, or its Series 1 equivalent. But it's hard for me to rationalize, given the macros I already have. Is the 105/2.8 really that much better than say the S1 90/2.5? IOW, would I see a real difference?
