I shoot with a G2, so I echo your enthusiasm for that line of cameras.

I'm not going to tell you to try slide film , although it sure is fun, if you're intent on shooting prints, which are also cool. But I will tell you this: dump the Max, that stuff is crap. It doesn't matter that you're a beginner - spend another coupla bucks and get some nice film. Even Fuji Superia, which is available everywhere cheap, is *way* better, and comes in 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 speeds. And if you're getting scratched negs, I'd start by trying a different processor. If you still get intermittent scratching, you could have some migrating dust or grit in your camera, and need to have it cleaned.
