Bob,
You are right. Except for the HSM Sigma lenses, the Elan
IIe, then EOS3, and later the 7e, required upgrades to the
chip in Sigma and Tokina lenses. Not sure of lenses like
Phoenix or other aftermarket. Tamron was fine, no upgrade
needed. Incidentally, the 1V was the EOS 3 with better body
and no ECF and of course the 100% viewfinder (something as
you know I avoid like the plague).
