Gary, If you're worried about the warranty then you can also consider buying the lens in either Holland or Germany for around the same price. Isarfoto in Germany (http://www.isarfoto.com/EN/produkt_set.php?) has the EF300 f/2.8 L IS on their pricelist for EUR 4199 which converts to around �2900. A shop I frequently use in Holland (http://www.fotokonijnenberg.nl/) has it listed for EUR 4295.
