Doesn't the 10D have the pre-programmed modes (a.k.a. "idiot" modes), for
sports, landscape, portrait and the green zone?

If the mode dial is set to one of these, very few manual adjustments can be
made.

AFAIK, even the flash button won't work. The flash will pop up automatically
only when the camera thinks it needs it.

If you are in the modes P, Av, Tv or M, you'll be able to pop up the flash by
pressing the button. If you don't press the button, the camera doesn't do it
automatically.
