this has been a common problem for many people with that lens. If cleaning the contacts does not work (and it most likely won't be a full cure) the lens does indeed need to be sent back. There is some minor part inside that appears to be messing up with quite a few of those lenses. www.robgalbraith's site http://www.robgalbraith.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB18&Number=280259&Forum=,,f18,,&Words=70-200&Searchpage=1&Limit=25&Main=248404&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=&daterange=0&newerval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post280259

if that paste doesn't work go to the main site and search for 70-200 . If it happens once or twice don't sweat it. If it becomes a problem and cleaning the contacts does not work there will be cure other than sending it in. The good news is that it is a known problem and easily solved.
