>> What is the non-S equivalent to my EF-S 10-22mm? > The equivalent would be: 16-35 (1.6x10 and 1.6x22)
Hi Cal, My rhetorical question was directed at Stefan, who was comparing the EF-S 17-85 with the EF 17-40L. My point is that there only equivalent to the EF-S 10-22 on my EOS 20D would be to put an EF 16-35mm on an EOS 1D MkII. And I think there lies the real answer to Stefan's question: >>> So where's the cost saving for the customer? Although I take his point that there is not a direct equivalent for a midrange consumer zoom like the 28-105, it is unfair to compare the 17-85 with the 17-40L. If you are comparing focal lengths, below is what I feel is a more equitable list. Do you agree? EF-S 10-22 <==> EF 16-35 EF 22-55 <==> EF 35-80 EF-S 18-55 <==> EF 28-90 (none) <--> EF 28-105 EF-S 17-85 <==> EF 28-135 IS USM EF 17-40L <==> (EF 24-70L) EF 20-35 <==> (EF 35-70) EF 55-200 <==> EF 75-300 TS-E 24L <==> TS-E 45 EF 24 f/2.8 <==> (EF 50 f/1.8) EF 50 f/1.8 <==> EF 85 f/1.8 EF 100 f/2.8<==> EF 180 f/3.5 EF 200L <==> EF 300 f/2.8 non-IS EF 100-400IS<==> no equivalent Cheers Julian Loke * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
