I have shot for the entire day in the field (landscape and wild animal photography) on one battery when the weather was comfortable (65 - 80 degrees) but I am sure that the battery life would not be quite as good in the cold. I would suggest a back-up battery however - I carry one just "in case" and throw it in when the in camera battery runs out -- I do not charge up the battery every night. Hope this helps. I find myself running out of cards ( 2g, and 5 1g) before I run out of battery during the day.
