But saying that you need the 85/1.2 because it's sharper at f1.8 for portraits just doesn't make any sense to me. read_handheld_no flash_see every pore on the skin_ wow nice lens! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - As you say, does not make any sense to you. I personally do not own a 1.o or 1.2, a 1.4 yes! The reason you buy a F1.4 is that you can use it at F1.4, however, at F2.8 the lens is sharper as lenses improve in resolution 2-3 stops down from wide open. If you do not understand this, there is a book called Lenses in Photography by Dr. Rudolf Kingslake written in 1953 or so. Kingslake was consider "the" authority on lens design and worked for Kodak for many years. Your comment, read_handheld_no flash_see every pore on the skin_ wow nice lens! is a bit sarcastic, and while you are right about lens sharpness being better on a tripod it true. However, that being said, how about this read_tripod_no flash_small aperture_snapshot_every item in background noticeable, must be an amateur. :-) Peter K * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
