Hi Jim,
No, I don't make my living from photography because I'm chicken. I have a regular job with insurance and retirement. I have been wanting to quit and do photography or graphics instead but my son recently broke his arm and without the insurance I would literally be thousands in the hole. It makes me think of all the what ifs...
Anyway, I shoot my Canon 70-200/2.8L for sports. Indoor and out. I have a 2x converter, also Canon, that I use when I need a longer lens. Incidentally, this isn't long enough for birds.
I've been taking pictures seriously since about the mid 90's. When I first started I was terrible but have gotten lots better. Not perfect yet but working on it.
Oh, I do not use my sharpest lens for portraits. Learned that lesson the hard way. Had been doing Senior pics for friends and then did a friend that was in her early 40's. Beautiful woman but I could see stuff in her skin that you don't notice in real life. Back then I didn't have Photoshop. She liked the pictures but I felt I could have done better.
Tonight I did Senior pics for the little sister of someone I did a couple of years ago. I'll have her pics up in probably about a week. They are really good. I've been looking at them on the computer.

I've followed your threads and seen your website and pictures the last few years and want you to know I think you're an exceptional photographer and I admire your work, but...I need my fast lens.
Sincerely,
Denise
P.S. Question for the pros: What age group buys the most pictures. Or, what event sells the most pictures. I've been wondering about this for a while.
