I don't think my lense is super-duper sharp. I like it because I can shoot at 2.8, no flash and get the shot. I take lots of pictures and after the 49th flash the ref starts looking round for the crazy lady flashing her head off. Also, when asked to shoot a specific person I can remain relatively anonymous and therefore I think I get better, more natural pictures. You don't only shoot fast for the sharpness. And, at f/2.8 my lense isn't nearly as sharp as say f/8, but ... I get the shot I want.
