OK, I finally got a Canon digital SLR, so now I've got some questions for the group...

I've got 3 Sigma lenses (which I've been pretty happy with). Since I've only used them with older EOS bodies (620 & 5), I've had no problems with them, at all, but I'm well aware of the problems that people have had using older Sigma lenses on newer EOS bodies.

Today, as soon as I got my 10D, I grabbed the Sigma lenses to see if they would work. They did, all three (14mm f/3.5, 28mm f/1.8 Aspherical & 400mm f/5.6 Apo). At least they did for about a dozen shots each. Each lens worked fine. I took a bunch of pictures to test, AF, MF on and off. Then I tested some other oddball T-mount lenses. Then I put the camera down for a while.

I picked the camera up, mounted the Sigma 28, turned the camera on, took a shot and shazam, Err99. I get the exact same results with the Sigma 14.

What's going on here? Did the 10D have to "learn" that these Sigmas were bad? Why did it work for a while? Could I have prevented the problem?

Oddly enough, the 400 continues to work just fine, giving no errors at all.

By the way, what's the consensus, do you shut your digital SLR's off when you changes lenses? I certainly never shut off my film cameras to do it.

Mr. Bill
