I recall seeing an article in the EOS Magazine some years ago where it
mentioned that the IS lenses behaved differently on some older bodies, and
when I checked my 28-135 IS on my old EOS film body (EOS10 ?), I did get the
effect. Can't remember the details, but it was pretty minor, and didn't
bother me in normal usage.
I've had an EF-M (it's light and compact) for a few years, and since getting
it, have noticed that they appear fairly regularly on UK s/h listings.

If I remember correctly, the IS would shut down with autofocus if a TeleConverter was used, causing the lens to be less than f5.6.
I believe that the last model affected was the EOS 5.
