If I remember correctly, the IS would shut down with autofocus if a TeleConverter was used, causing the lens to be less than f5.6.
I believe that the last model affected was the EOS 5.

That could be the case since power to the auto-focus motor would shut down on older models if the modified teleconverter aperture was too small to focus with. But that's only in combination with a T-C, so it can't be really said that the lenses themselves were incompatible.


And it's also nothing that a small piece of cellotape over the right contacts on the T-C couldn't fix.
