350D also has 7-point AF vs 20D 9--point, not sure about the joystick FP selector, which is an attractive feature of the 20D. At least for someone who doesn't have one yet. I wonder from owners how much you use that feature?
I switched froma 300d to a 20d last weekend. The joystick could have been much better utilized that it has been, the shpae and design of it is also not great. To me, so far, the joystick is slower to use in selecting a focus point than the old way! If it was more like a mobile phone style joystick made of hard rubber instead of plastic it may have been better. It also seems odd that it only works to control the focus point and for scrolling around zoomed in images. I instinctively tried to use it to navigate the menus as I would a phone etc...
