It makes perfect sense. I hope that they also update certain features,
especially the LCD screen. Canon is starting to lag behind as far as lcd
screens are concerned. They maintain the old 1.8" screen from camera to
camera when the current trend is for bigger and higher resolution screens.
If manufacturers can stick 2.5" screens on compact cameras (Kodak has
presented a 3" screen compact at PMA) and keep prices and size low, there is
no excuse to fit the same screen that equips the Powershot S60 on a camera
that costs thousands of euros.
Hugo, I just obtained these numbers from the web, so I hope that they are correct.
Canon 350D - 1.8 Inch LCD 115000 Pixels 20D & 300D - 1.8 Inch LCD 118000 Pixels 1DS - 2.0 Inch 120000 Pixels 1D Mk II & 1DS Mk II - 2.0 Inch LCD 230000 Pixels
Other Manufacturers Nikon D70 - 1.8 Inch 130000 Pixels Nikon D2H - 2.5 Inch 211200 Pixels Nikon D2X - 2.5 Inch 235200 Pixels
Pentax *ist D - 1.8 Inch 118000 Pixels Pentax *ist D - 2.0 Inch 210000 Pixels Konica-Minolta Dynax 7D - 2.5 Inch Pixels 207000 Pixels
Size isn't everything. Pixel numbers are also important.
Certainly, the 1D Mk II screen that I saw the other week was far superior to those on the 350D & 20D.
Not that I am disagreeing with you that larger screens should be better
Cheers
Keith
