Maybe you are using the wrong bracket?

I use the Stroboframe Press T. When I rotate the camera, I flip the bracket. The flash (Canon 550ex) is always centered above the lens, and always aligned with the camera orientation.

The flash zooms as the lens zooms, and I always get proper coverage.

Before you buy a new flash, you may want to investigate a different bracket. Replacing the bracket might be cheaper than replacing the flash.
