I know this is not the popular opinion but I would suggest waiting for the ??D. I say that only because you say you have the Digital Rebel already and the 20D has been out for a while.
I think this is the proper way to go because technology in digital cameras is still pretty large (even though the jumps aren't as large as they used to be) and camera releases are relatively frequent. Also, costs for that technology is decreasing as well. That's not to say that the ??D will be cheaper than the 20D but that for the probable jump in technology/features will make it worth it compared to the current price of the 20D. If we were talking about a specific film camera I would say go ahead and get it because a new release would probably not be in the imminent future. If you were still using a P&S digital or film I would also say go ahead and take the plunge with the 20D. >From what I know, as well as MHO, I say wait for the next Canon prosumer camera. Good luck.
