Right now I have 3 Canon lenses 17-40mm L, 50mm 1.4, and 70-300 DO IS, some Kenko extension tubes and also a Canon 500D closeeup lens screw on attachment. I was thinking if I had some sort of ring flash I could get some better macro shots with the lenses I have, but looking at the available Canon options, it looks like they are designed to work with just a few Canon macro lenses.

So, my question is, anyone have any recommendations for macro lighting for the lenses I have? I was also looking at some Canon macro lenses, the 100mm and 180mm, both seem to be 1:1. Is the only advantage of the 180mm that you get to be a little farther from the subject?

Thanks for any opinions,

Phillip Moore
