I'm quite certain that when camera companies are desiging their cameras they
don't have long-term filing in mind. That's not their job, it's yours.

Not using folders, the easiest method of organizing, is kinda ridiculous if
for no other reason than you will soon wind up with a directory that is so
full of JPGs that it'll take you forever manuever through. How do you
organize your bills or financial papers? Just throw them all in the same
pile on your desk?

Not only do I use folders to store images but I often will go through my
images and append alpha-numeric digits on the end or beginning to keep
things straight. To keep images straight between two different bodies I
typically append the time in an "00.00.00_" format to the beginning of the
filename so that my 1D images get mixed in chronolgically with my 1D.2
images.

Start using folders or start renaming your files or your gonna have plenty
of similar problems ahead.

I don't really care for folders as I don't typically have any use for them,
a 5 digit counter is much more useful for me.

Any comments?

Ken
